Two day Sprint race series Open event for Albacores.
Short (20-25 minutes) races will be run in sets of (3 or) 4 back-to-back races, depending on the conditions. Start sequence for each sprint race will be 3-2-1-0.
The schedule for the weekend is as follows:
* Saturday: Our boat park will be open to welcome competitors from 10:00 on Saturday morning. Bacon rolls, tea and coffee will be available for purchase. Lunch will be served at 12:00, with a briefing scheduled for 12:30. The first set of 3-4 back to back sprint races will start at 13:00. There will be a half-hour break for tea and cakes at around 15:00, followed by another set of back to back sprint races. A vegetarian feast will be served for dinner at the clubhouse on Saturday evening; this should be reserved at time of registration (cost £10 per person).
* Sunday: Bacon rolls, tea and coffee will be served for breakfast. A final set of back to back sprint races will start at 9:30. Prize-giving is scheduled for 12:00. Club lunch is served at 13:00 and will be available to Albacore travellers at the standard cost of £4 per person (to be paid on the day).
The entry fee of £35 per boat includes lunch and tea and cakes on Saturday. There will be separate charges for dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and club lunch on Sunday.
Entry to this event is limited to members of the Albacore Association. WOSC members can purchase temporary Albacore Association membership for the week-end at a cost of £5. On-line registration and payment will be done in advance via the WOSC website, and membership of the Albacore Association will be checked on the day.
There are prizes to be won for first, second and third placed boats; there will also be a prize for the highest placed local boat.
Camping will be available to competitors at no extra cost on a first come first served basis, please book in advance to guarantee your place. Visitors to WOSC planning on camping should bring a £20 note to be used as deposit for a clubhouse access card; the £20 will be refunded on return of the access card. Please let us know if you would like to camp on Friday evening, so we can organise access to the sailing club.
